My custom wordpress sites are secure, reliable, maintainable and come with good performance in front- and backend. Based on a proven workflow and a tested set of plugins you will get a system tailored to your needs.
Since I stick very much to the standard wordpress workflow the sites keep maintainable, even through major core updates.

One one hand WordPress Plugin Ecosystem is awesome (because of the magnitude of the numbers of plugins) on the other it is terrifying because of the dubious quality of many plugins and a poor review process. My set of plugins is tested by the wordpress community and myself.

Here is the list:

  • CMB2: for building metaboxes and fields
  • BackWPup: for backups
  • The SEO Framework: for setting meta-data and indexing
  • Some security plugins like sucuri, wordfence, wp security etc.

This list gets extended by some more plugins which we choose based on the needs of your site, the knowledge of the editors and the configuration of the webhost. The extended list focuses on:

  • Image Optimization
  • Media Library Management
  • Order and Duplicate Content
  • Sitemaps
  • Caching

With this setup (a tight set of proven ‘backend’ plugins, and a third-party-free frontend) we can easily switch to auto-update of core and plugins and keep everything up-to-date and keep the site safe and secure. The worst thing what can happen is some broken functionality in the editing experience, but not a break-down of the whole site.

Here some words about theming.

That’s it!
